FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

DO I HAVE TO BE AN ENGINEERING MAJOR TO JOIN SSE?

Nope! Although our name has engineering in it, we are multi-disciplinary and open for all majors. If you are interested in what we have to offer, we'd be thrilled to have you with us.

HOW ARE MEETINGS USUALLY HELD AND WHEN?

We hold general member meetings once a month, but specific scheduling may vary due to room availability at Shelby Hall. Meetings are typically on a Tuesday or Thursday around 12:30 pm.


If we are unable to reserve a space, a group Zoom call is our next-best thing, where a link to join is made available by What's Happening Shelby emails, JagDigest, or through our Instagram announcements. We will let you know in advance!

DO I HAVE TO BE A MEMBER TO PARTICIPATE?

Short answer? No. Non-members are allowed to attend monthly general meetings and help out with out events. The more the merrier!

 

However, we still strongly encourage joining to ensure you receive our email updates, learn some interesting stuff, and at the very least earn a really cool, green tassel to wear at graduation :)

HOW DO I JOIN?

Fill out the New Member Form, ensuring to include your full name and jagmail. We will collect other information on the form such as your major and year for data purposes.

  • Fall dues: $5.00

  • Spring dues: $10.00

We require you fill out the form every semester so that we may keep track of your membership as well as dues. Dues are paid once a year (Fall or Spring), every year.

WHERE DO MY DUES AND DONATIONS GO?

All dues and donations go towards supporting the organization. This means better monthly meetings, quality on-campus events, and more opportunities for our members.

HOW DO I PAY MY DUES?

It's easy! For cash payment please see one of our officers or email us to set up a quick meeting. For convenience, our organization's Venmo is under the following handle:
